Prayer for Selflessness

O Dearly beloved Word of God, teach me to be generous, to serve You as You deserve, to give without counting the cost, to fight without fretting at my wounds, to labor without seeking rest, to spend myself without looking for any reward other than that of knowing that I do Your holy will. Amen.

*Vatican seeks
peace through world-wide prayer

*Suggestions for individual prayer commitments:

  • Pray the rosary
  • Visit the Blessed Sacrament
  • Abstain from meat one day a week
  • Offer a simple fast weekly
  • Gather with friends to pray
  • Make a litany of gratitude
  • Pray the "Hail Mary" each time you hear or see a headline regarding the conflict
  • Add a daily Mass to your routine
  • Meditate on the Psalms
  • Imagine growing up in an area plagued by violence & pray for the children affected
  • Fast from criticisms and complaints against world leaders and pray for them instead...

And of course, continue to think of other ways to bring light & hope through YOUR faith and prayer.  Mary, Queen of Peace, bless and protect each of us.
